Domino’s Reaches Accord on Delivery Policy
Domino’s Pizza Inc. agreed to make sure its franchises do not unfairly avoid delivering pizzas to black neighborhoods under the guise of shunning unsafe areas. In a voluntary agreement with the Justice Department, Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Domino’s pledged to consult with law-enforcement officials to monitor crime-trend statistics that franchises may use when developing their delivery policies. A neighborhood’s crime statistics, rather than racial demographics, would determine whether a neighborhood is considered safe enough for pizza deliveries under the agreement.
