Manager Named at New Conexant Systems Unit

Conexant Systems Inc., a Newport Beach maker of semiconductor products for communications electronics, said Tuesday that it has created a new business unit and named Bill Giudice to run it.

Giudice, 45, was appointed vice president and general manager of broadband Internet working systems, a unit within Conexant’s network access division. Giudice co-founded Maker Communications Inc., where he was chairman and chief executive before its acquisition by Conexant in March.

The new unit will handle sophisticated wide-area network communications processing, which the company sees as a significant opportunity created by the explosion in broadband, or high-speed, Internet traffic.
