SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
Pamela Crankshaw, the first person to contest the city’s red-light camera system, has won the first case in Orange County challenging red-light cameras at intersections.
“The judge said we couldn’t prove the case because you couldn’t see the light was red in the picture,” Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Jansen said.
Two other challengers have hearing dates scheduled for Tuesday and June 20.
Jansen said he plans to talk to traffic engineers about changing the signals to contain incandescent bulbs that are visible from all angles.
