Alpha Microsystems said Thursday it plans to change its name to NQL Inc. as it moves to become a premier provider of Internet software to the global market.

Shareholders will be asked to approve the name change Aug. 9, at the company’s annual meeting in Santa Ana. Shareholders also will be asked to approve a shift in the company’s incorporation from California to Delaware.

The company, which does business as AlphaServ.com and provides Internet software and other computer services, said it intends to change its Nasdaq ticker symbol to NQLI.
