The auditorium at San Fernando High School in Pacoima will be renamed for the late labor leader Cesar Chavez at a dedication ceremony Sunday.

Paul Chavez will speak on behalf of his late father at the 3 p.m. event.

Rep. Howard Berman (D-Mission Hills), state Sen. Richard Alarcon (D-Sylmar), Assemblyman Tony Cardenas (D-Sylmar) and Herbert Siguenza from the comedy troupe Culture Clash are also expected to attend.

The 1,200-seat auditorium, built in 1955, has never been named. A mural on the auditorium’s exterior depicting Chavez and his struggle to improve conditions for migrant farm workers will be unveiled at the ceremony.
