Orange Condo Association Settles Lawsuit Over Defects
A condominium association in Orange has settled a construction defect lawsuit against a developer and several subcontractors for about $6 million, the group’s attorneys said Monday.
Under the terms of the proposed settlement, the 423-unit Huntington Condominium Assn. will receive $2 million from developer Beazer Homes in Orange. The association will also receive at least $2 million from 25 subcontractors and is guaranteed up to $2 million more from Beazer Homes if pending claims against 20 remaining subcontractors are unsuccessful.
The lawsuit contended the complex was plagued by building code violations and a number of defects, including leaky decks, doors, windows and roofs.
The settlement must still be approved by an Orange County Superior Court judge at a hearing next month.
