Biopool International Inc. in Ventura has sold the facilities it used for its former BCA Division in West Chester, Pa., a transaction that netted the company $2.1 million.

This completes the sale of Biopool’s immunohematology division, which began with the sale of the product lines in April 1999. The company also announced that it recently negotiated a $2-million line of credit with Sanwa Bank of California.

“The company has shown 8 years of consistent profitability, and Biopool is now in the best financial position of its existence,” said Michael D. Bick, chairman and chief executive.

Last month, Biopool agreed to merge with Denver-based Xtrana Inc., a product-development company specializing in developing tools for genomic research and nucleic acid testing. The merger is subject to the approval of Biopool’s stockholders at their annual meeting in August.

Biopool develops test kits to diagnose blood disorders and toxicology products used to monitor and measure drug abuse.
