SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The Capistrano Unified school board has turned down a request by parents to reinstate the year-round program at Harold Ambuehl Elementary School.
Citing a lack of teacher support, trustees told year-round proponents that their March decision to halt the 20-year-old program will stand.
Some year-round parents and teachers had asked for a year’s extension of the program to buy time to establish a charter program at the school, which would allow it to maintain the year-round schedule.
