Eleanor Lee Millard: 65-Year Ventura Resident

Eleanor Lee Millard, a homemaker, died Tuesday at her daughter’s home in Ventura following a lengthy illness. She was 78.

She was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Meeker, Okla. She moved to Ventura when she was 13 and lived there for the past 65 years.

Millard was a devoted homemaker, and family members said she made wonderful desserts. She was also an avid bowler for many years after getting her start at Avenue Bowl in Ventura.

Millard is survived by daughters Mary Bradley of Exeter, Calif.; Elsie Young of Washington, D.C.; Patty Mitchell of Blue Lake, Calif., and Sandy Vega and Rayette Dooley of Ventura; mother Maude McCown of Ventura; brother Winston McCown; sisters Diane Croasmum of Ventura and Wanda Karas of New Mexico; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 1990.

Graveside services are scheduled at 11 today at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

Memorial donations may be made to Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Assn. in Ventura.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
