Father’s Day Run to Help High School

* Yolanda’s Restaurant presents a Father’s Day Run 2000 fund-raiser and benefit for Santa Clara High School, with registration at 7 a.m. today at the restaurant, 2801 Saviers Road, Oxnard. There will be a 5K run, mile run, classic car display and a drawing for prizes, including a cruise for two to Mexico. Golf Tourney to Raise Money for Youth Jobs

* The 12th annual Longest Day of Golf 36-hole benefit tournament starts at 7:30 a.m. Monday at Los Robles Greens Golf Course, 299 Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. The tournament format is a four-person scramble, with a closest-to-the-pin contest and a long-drive contest. Entry fee is $125 and includes 36 holes of golf, golf cart, breakfast, lunch, barbecue dinner, prizes, trophies and an auction. All proceeds go toward Conejo Youth Employment Services. Duffers Hit the Links for Association

* Ventura County Economic Development Assn.’s 10th annual golf tournament begins with registration at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon on Monday at the Las Posas Country Club, 955 Fairway Drive, Camarillo. Following the tournament at 5 p.m., a Chairman’s Circle Dinner will be held with community business leaders. All proceeds will benefit the association’s ongoing programs. Information: 388-3457.

Surfrider Foundation to Present Films

* Surfrider Foundation presents the Summer Surflick Series kickoff at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ventura College Theater, 4667 Telegraph Road, Ventura. The movies “Blue Crush” and “The September Sessions” will be shown. The series will continue in July, August and September. There will also be raffle prizes. Tickets are $8, $6 for children. Channelaire Chorus Hosts Cabaret Show

* Channelaire Chorus presents the Music of Our Hearts third annual cabaret show at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Camarillo Community Center, 1605 E. Burnley St. The cost is $15, $12 for seniors and children, which includes desserts, punch, coffee and home-baked goodies donated by local businesses and chorus members. All proceeds benefit the Channelaire Chorus. The group is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International and promotes the barbershop harmony style in the community through education and performance. Parish to Hold Dance for Scholarship Fund

* Knights of Columbus of St. Jude’s Parish will hold its third annual Msgr. O’Connell Scholarship Fund big band dance from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the parish hall, 30232 W. Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. Light snacks will be available for a cost as well as a no-host bar. Ed Nani’s Moonlight Orchestra will provide entertainment. Tickets are $10. Braille Institute to Offer Consultations

* The Braille Institute will offer free visual aid consultations from noon to 5 p.m. June 26 and July 10 at the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi. During the one-hour private sessions, a consultant determines visual skills and then offers help through techniques to make the most of existing vision. Visiting Nurses Group to Train Volunteers

* Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurses Assn. will hold a training program for its Friendly Visitor Program at the Camarillo Health Care District, 369 Las Posas Road, Building F, Suite 161. The two-part training runs from 9 a.m. to noon on July 18 and 25. The program offers volunteers the opportunity to visit homebound residents to talk and brighten up their day. Golf Scramble to Help Fight Child Abuse

* Interface Children Family Services holds the ninth annual “Fore Children Golf Tournament” on July 21 at Camarillo Springs Golf Course, 791 Camarillo Springs Road. The tournament will feature a foursome Texas scramble and include a golf cart, lunch and dinner. There is also a golf clinic for $125. The tournament entry fee is $125. The fee is $225 for both the clinic and tournament. Proceeds benefit the WeCAAN (Working Together to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect) program at Interface, which is dedicated to the education, prevention, intervention and treatment of child abuse. Picnic to Honor Those With Disabilities

* Ed Hunt’s Rehab Point Project holds its annual picnic celebration to honor people with disabilities, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23, at Oxnard State Beach Park off Harbor Boulevard in Oxnard. This local nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing wheelchair accessibility to the ocean. Volunteers are needed to help plan the celebration and gather donations. Student Exchange Recruiting Host Families

* Cultural Academic Student Exchange is recruiting host families for its annual high school exchange student program, which begins in August and runs from five to 10 months. All host families provide room and board and include the student in all family functions. All students speak English and are between the ages of 15 and 18. Optimist Club Accepting Applications

* The Conejo Valley Optimist Business and Professional Club is accepting applications from professionals to join Optimist International. The Optimist Club is an international youth organization that coordinates fund-raisers and organizes events such as the Conejo Valley Days, the Braille Olympics and the annual Optimist International float in the Rose Parade. Prospective members must fill out an application and pay a $40 sign-up fee. The Conejo Valley section meets at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of the month at the Greenhouse Cafe, 652 E.
