PUC President Named to Numbering Council
Loretta Lynch, president of the California Public Utilities Commission, was named to serve on an influential board that advises the Federal Communications Commission on area codes and other numbering matters. Lynch’s appointment to the North American Numbering Council, which was recently approved by FCC Chairman William Kennard, is expected to help California and other states make their area code concerns heard at the FCC. The California PUC and other agencies want permission to enact more aggressive number conservation measures. Lynch will be one of four state regulators on the industry-dominated numbering council.
