Homestore.com Puts Whelan at the Helm of Rental Operation

Homestore.com Inc. in Thousand Oaks, which operates a network of home and real estate Web sites, has appointed Patrick R. Whelan as president of SpringStreet.com, its apartment rental operation.

Whelan has 18 years’ experience in commercial real estate and corporate finance, most recently as chief operating officer of Archstone Communities Trust and president of Archstone Communities Inc. Prior to joining Archstone, Whelan held senior management positions with Security Capital Group, Trammel Crow Co. and General Electric Capital Corp.

SpringStreet.com enables consumers to make a customized search of more than 6.5 million apartments in 6,000 U.S. cities. The site also provides access to relocation services, such as online change of address, truck rental, insurance and credit reports.
