Former Rep. Robert J. Lagomarsino has been elected chairman of American Commercial Bank and its parent holding corporation, Americorp. Lagomarsino was chosen to succeed businessman Allen W. Jue, making him the fourth chairman in the Ventura-based bank’s 27-year history.

Jue, the last active member of the bank’s founders, will remain on the board of directors.

Lagomarsino, a Ventura native, represented the Ventura-Santa Barbara area in Congress for 19 years. Before that, the Republican was a state senator for 12 years.

He was elected a director of Americorp in 1993. His father, Emilio J. Lagomarsino, was a founding member and the original chairman of the bank, holding that position from 1973 until 1980.
