The head of an independent film company remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday, a day after he was shot in the neck, allegedly by his 20-year-old wife.

Julian Caine, 34, of Sherman Oaks, chairman of Caine Entertainment Inc., was transported early Sunday to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said, and he is able to communicate.

“He is not doing that bad,” said Det. Dan O’Hanian of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division. “I talked to him for over an hour.”

His wife, Amy Caine, was booked Sunday in Van Nuys jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.

Police would not disclose a possible motive for the shooting.

The incident began at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, when officers responded to a domestic-violence call at the couple’s Sherman Oaks home. They found Julian Caine shot in the neck and arrested Amy Caine.

Before founding his own company, Caine worked as the senior accountant for MGM’s production accounting department from October 1997 to August 1998, MGM officials said.

Caine Entertainment produces low- to mid-level budget motion pictures, television and multimedia products, according to the company’s Web site.
