The City Council is expected to vote on a number of issues today, including a settlement agreement with City Manager Arthur C. Simonian. Council members will also reconsider an earlier vote to chop down 25 jacaranda trees.

Simonian, on paid administrative leave, is in the midst of a legal battle with the city, which is suing him to recover as much as $300,000 in bonuses he allegedly paid himself without proper authorization. Simonian has denied any wrongdoing and is suing to get his job back.

Council members also will make a final decision on whether to cut down 25 jacaranda trees lining Rose Drive and Bastanchury Road. They had previously voted 3 to 1 to remove them but agreed at the last meeting to reconsider the issue. Councilman Henry W. Wedaa was absent from the earlier vote.
