City officials have decided to create a permanent and formal policy for offering rewards in exchange for information on major crimes committed in the city.

The rewards will be offered only when all possible leads have been exhausted by investigators and will not be available to any law enforcement officers, Police Department employees, any other city employees or their immediate relatives.

The rewards will be given only when the responsible parties have been arrested and convicted.
