SANTA ANA
The City Council voted Monday to spend $205,530 to continue the Police Department’s helicopter patrol service for another year.
The department has used helicopters for about 10 years for patrols, suspect searches and assistance for officers on the ground.
The cost of the service is about the same every year, Sgt. Raul Luna said.
The department shares a fleet of four helicopters with the Costa Mesa and Newport Beach police departments.
