Indonesian navy ships evacuated more than 700 fearful Christian refugees from the Molucca Islands days after Muslim fighters killed scores of people in an attack on the village of Duma. Church workers said that as many as 187 people have died since Monday’s attack on Halmahera island, about 1,600 miles northeast of Jakarta, the capital. The military put the death toll at 111. Two Muslim children were shot to death Thursday as they took a speedboat across the harbor in Ambon, the provincial capital, said Malik Selang, an official at the Al Fatah mosque. At least nine people were killed in clashes in Ambon between Muslims and Christians that erupted Wednesday.
