Board Set to Vote on School Boundaries

The Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education is scheduled to vote tonight on a proposal to redraw the boundaries of Lang Ranch Elementary School, which is overcrowded two years after it opened.

District officials want to reassign new students who live in the Knolls and Westlake Canyon apartments in Lang Ranch to Ladera Elementary School, about three miles away. But officials would allow existing students from those complexes to stay and also allow their siblings to attend the school.

Officials say Ladera had 333 students last fall and Lang Ranch had 708. In six years, officials hope Lang Ranch’s population will drop by 100 while Ladera’s will increase by that amount.
