* Re “An Adamant Davis Launches Attack on Vouchers Plan,” June 23: Once again we see a politician afraid to let the people be free to make their own choices. What’s Gov. Gray Davis afraid of? Is losing some control really so terrifying? Is making a fundamental change in how we conduct our lives really so daunting? Is putting parents in a situation where they can choose what they think is best for their children really so wrong?

The recent struggle to find a new superintendent for the L.A. school district ought to tell us something about our mega-institution educational systems.
