Gas Prices Surge 10 Cents in 2-Week Period

Gasoline prices in Southern California spurted as much as 10 cents a gallon higher in the last two weeks, according to a survey by the Automobile Club of Southern California. Northern California motorists are worse off. Prices there surged by as much as 17 cents a gallon, AAA of Northern California reported. In the 10 Southern California communities surveyed, prices ranged from $1.392 a gallon in La Habra (up nearly 9 cents a gallon in the last two weeks) to $1.61 a gallon in Santa Barbara (up nearly 5 cents a gallon). Van Nuys saw a 10-cent-a-gallon jump to $1.408. In Northern California, prices ranged from $1.55 in Fresno and Chico to $1.71 in San Francisco.
