Three Ocean View High School students are finalists for National Merit Scholarship awards.

Seniors Joshua Cable, Tracy Jessner and Doreen Szeto each wrote an essay about their individual interests, plans and goals, as well as major activities, awards, volunteer work and contributions to the school and community. Winners of the Merit Program awards are chosen on the basis of their ability, skills and accomplishments. The trio are finalists in the national competition for 7,600 Merit Scholarship awards.

Recipients are selected by committees that evaluate grades, course load, difficulty level and depth and breadth of the student’s studies.
