Green, Harmon Are Named to Big West’s Second Team

Jerry Green of UC Irvine and Ike Harmon of Cal State Fullerton received second-team honors when the Big West named its all-conference men’s basketball team.

Green, a sophomore guard, and Harmon, a senior forward, led their teams in scoring. Green averaged 16 points and 3.4 assists, and Harmon averaged 18.7 points and 7.5 rebounds.

UCI forward Marek Ondera (12.1 points and 6.4 rebounds) received honorable mention, and Anteater center Greg Ethington (3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds) was named to the all-freshman team.

Megan Stafford, who led the Irvine women’s team in scoring (15.7) and assists (5.7), was named to the conference’s second team. She ends her Irvine career as the school’s all-time assists leader (594) and second in scoring (1,425). Fullerton’s Erin Whiteside (13.4 points) received honorable mention.

Long Beach State senior center Mate Milisa was named Big West men’s player of the year and North Texas’ Chris Davis the freshman of the year. Utah State’s Stew Morrill was selected men’s coach of the year.

UC Santa Barbara’s Erin Buescher was named women’s player of the year and Nevada’s Kate Smith the freshman of the year. Mark French of UCSB and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Faith Mimnaugh were selected women’s co-coaches of the year.
