Bill Sanchez, the boys’ basketball coach at Agoura High for the past four seasons, has resigned.

Sanchez, 44, said he came to an agreement with Agoura administrators in a meeting Wednesday.

“Some administrators, parents and even some players have not been very happy with my sideline demeanor,” Sanchez said. “I’m very demonstrative and can be very animated.”

Sanchez, who has coached at various levels at Agoura since 1987, said frustration with a lack of administrative support for the basketball program was the main reason for his decision.

Agoura compiled a 40-60 record under Sanchez. The Chargers qualified for the Southern Section playoffs in his first three years, but were hampered by injuries this season and finished 4-21 overall and 2-10 in the Marmonte League.

* Russell Lakey of Harvard-Westlake announced Thursday he has committed to Vanderbilt. Lakey was the Mission League player of the year and averaged 23.1 points per game.
