The Irvine chain of retail stores said net income for the fourth quarter ended Jan. 31 rose 38% to $3.3 million, or 73 cents a share, from $2.4 million, or 53 cents a share, for the corresponding quarter a year ago. Sales advanced 17% to $55.6 million. Net income for the year climbed 25% to $4 million, or 89 cents a share, from $3.2 million, or 71 cents a share, for the prior year. Sales grew 20% to $168.8 million.
