DANA POINT
The council will consider authorizing city staff to study the cost of preparing a historical preservation ordinance that would provide the owners of historical properties with incentives to preserve them.
A study done in accordance with the State Office of Historic Preservation revealed that there are 96 structures in Dana Point that are at least 50 years old.
The city staff is recommending a budget of around $18,200 to hire the city’s planning consultant, Hogle-Ireland, to prepare the ordinance through separate workshops with the owners of several Dana Point historical properties and the Planning Commission.
The council is scheduled meet at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council chambers at Dana Point City Hall, 33282 St. of the Golden Lantern.
