Friends of Library Donate $28,000
Friends of the Library have presented Barbara Murray, the city’s library director, with a $28,000 check to pay for children’s summer reading programs.
In addition, library branches in south Oxnard and La Colonia will each receive a set of the Encyclopedia of World Biography, paperback books, video and audio books, Murray said.
The library is always looking to expand donations to Friends of the Library, a nonprofit fund-raising wing, said Pierre Baptiste, a member of Library Development Corp. The donations allow for expansion and improved community services.
The group is sponsoring a Wednesday trip to the new CSU Channel Islands campus, near Camarillo. Several other excursions are planned for next month. For more information, call 385-7506.
