Gore and Bush Campaigns

Share

With the impending election looking pretty good for Al Gore, the Republican Party, true to form, looks for something to destroy the other side. Cal Thomas (Commentary, March 14) has jumped on board the partisan wagon, as usual, and seeks to find the rest of the corrupt “iceberg” below the beguilingly calm waters of a successful Clinton administration.

Why no one is moved to investigate the shenanigans of the Republican Party is beyond me. Were that the case, I believe we would see them fall as well--much like the discovery of all those righteous congressmen who called for Clinton’s impeachment while they themselves were busy committing adultery. I say, let’s investigate, but let’s investigate everybody in both parties. No doubt we’d come up with some interesting information.

Gore now claims he is a reformer. What is he going to change into tomorrow? Too bad he can’t change into an honest human being. This is the guy who took campaign contributions from the Chinese Communist army laundered through a bunch of Buddhist nuns in Hacienda Heights. It’s all too true that there’s a sucker born every day, millions of them, and unfortunately they all vote.

Kevin Phillips’ not so subtle attack on George W. Bush (Opinion, March 12) reminded me that in 1964 I was told that if I voted for Barry Goldwater we would go to war. Nevertheless I did vote for him and sure enough LBJ escalated the war started by JFK and eventually ended by RMN.

Among the abilities that are expected of a potential president of our country is an awareness of what his subordinates are doing. Bush says he was unaware that his wealthy presidential campaign supporters or possible surrogates spent millions of dollars on spurious media advertising. In effect, is he saying that he was not in the loop? Does this sound familiar? Should we give our trust to this candidate?

We re-registered Republican to vote for John McCain. We will not vote for Bush or Gore! We strongly support Sen. McCain running as an independent, Reform or Libertarian candidate. McCain has honor and character and will, we believe, reform our corrupt political system. There are many possible running mates, e.g. Colin Powell and Gov. Jesse Ventura.

Thanks to the Bush voters, we can now look forward to eight years of “Goredom.”
