The historic Kraemer house could become a gallery for local artists if talks between the Placentia-Yorba Linda Art Assn. and homeowner Jeff Lee go well.

The two parties are discussing a plan to renovate the 82-year-old house on Angelina Drive and turn it into a permanent gallery. New homes proposed along the perimeter of the house would make up a colony for resident artists.

“The project seems viable,” said Jim Dolan, president of the artists association, which has been looking for gallery space for the past two years. “At the moment it seems our best shot.”

The Kraemer house was built in 1918 by Gilbert Kraemer, one of the city’s founders. Lee has tried to develop the land in the lot for many years but his proposals have been repeatedly rejected by the council.
