City officials are doubling their efforts this week to reach out to residents and meet Saturday’s target date for Census 2000.

City officials plan to hang a banner across La Habra Boulevard in front of City Hall to remind residents to fill out their census forms.

Earlier this year, City Council members approved $10,000 for the formation of a census outreach group to serve the city and encourage residents to be counted.

Carlos Jaramillo, deputy director of community development for the city, said the city has four census workers who are policing the city encouraging residents to be counted.

The city’s census outreach program will continue until April 14, after which the Census Bureau will send out numerators to count households, which have not yet reported.
