License to Drive: I love to drive. It’s one of the most pleasurable things to me. I have a 1986 Porsche--it’s got over 100,000 miles on it. Most people don’t drive their Porches at all, but I drive mine like most people drive their Volkswagen.

Starry Night: Friday I would drive to Joshua Tree and spend the night there in my sleeping bag. The desert--it’s spiritual and Joshua Tree has some wonderful flatlands and rock formations. There are places to stay too, little hotels. But sleeping outside is what’s wonderful. It’s so darkly clear, and there’s no light from the city so the stars are very impressive.

Road to Coronado: Saturday morning I would drive to Coronado to have brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado, which is in immaculate condition, just beautiful. Coronado is just precious. It’s got the antiquity of the turn of the century, and yet it has the ability to feel like you’re in a place that is still alive.

Art Walk: After brunch, I’d head up north on the Pacific Coast Highway, and probably stop off in Laguna to go to some of the art studios there. The Laguna area is also very beautiful--gorgeous restaurants, excellent art dealers and they’re all open every Sunday and people walk around there like crazy.

Missionary Work: In two hours I can make it to Ojai, where I’d spend Saturday night. Then Sunday morning I’d drive over to the Santa Barbara Mission and go to church there. It doesn’t matter if you’re religious or not, it’s about seeing how people used to live in the 18th century. It puts you in another frame of mind.

Finishing Touches: After driving back down PCH, I’d have dinner at the Ivy by the Shore in Santa Monica. Then I’d go back to my house in the Valley. And I’d be very happy on Monday.
