Avery Dennison Names New Chairman

* Philip Neal has been elected chairman of Avery Dennison Corp., the label and office products maker based in Pasadena. Neal, who has served as chief executive and president since 1998, succeeds longtime Chairman Charles D. Miller, who retired Monday. Neal will remain CEO. The board named Dean Scarborough president and chief operating officer.

* Ameron International Corp. of Pasadena, a maker of highly engineered materials for the oil and construction industries, has promoted Stephen Dickey to president of protective coatings-USA/Europe for the Ameron Coatings Group division. Dickey, who will be based in Atlanta, will oversee Ameron’s worldwide protective coatings operations.

* Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels Corp. has named William Fortier senior vice president-franchise development in Hilton’s franchise hotel group. He was more recently vice president-franchise development for Hilton’s Western region. Fortier will oversee franchise development for most of Hilton’s brands, including Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Hilton Garden Inn.
