Leisure World’s Golden Rain Foundation has reached an agreement with South County Senior Services, giving the organization 18 months to buy 3.2 acres of the community’s land.

The organization, which plans to buy the land with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is expected to build a 115-unit senior housing project.

The group already operates Florence Sylvester Senior Center, directly across the street from the site, at the corner of Moulton Parkway and Santa Maria. Between 10% and 15% of the development would be set aside for disabled residents.
