TAPS Fish House and Brewery no longer relies on valet parking to accommodate all of its guests. One hundred sixty-five spaces in a new neighboring parking lot became available when their white stripes finally dried at 5 p.m. Thursday, just in time for the dinner crowd.

Parking has been a headache for both TAPS owners and customers since the restaurant opened without parking seven months ago. The city allowed TAPS to use valets to park cars on nearby streets, which inconvenienced some residents who complained to city officials.

The City Council had been trying for months to get a downtown developer to expedite work on the lot. The developer’s representatives told the council this week that rainy weather had caused a 49-day delay in the project.
