If ruby-throated hummingbirds arrive in squadrons at Jeff Goldblum’s garden, it is indeed a scene out of a science-fiction movie. Ruby-throateds are a distinctly East Coast and Midwest species; on the West Coast, those with a ruby-colored throat are Anna’s hummingbirds.
