Michael Marble pitched a seven-hitter and Chris Penta hit his fifth home run to lead Grant High to a 7-2 victory over Poly in a Sunset Six League baseball game Wednesday at Grant.

The Lancers (16-9, 11-3 in league play) moved into a first-place tie with the Parrots (19-7, 11-3) with one game remaining. Poly beat Grant in two previous meetings.

Marble (4-0) was making his second league start since being sidelined for six weeks because of a separated shoulder.

“I’m probably about 90-95% right now, but I live, eat and sleep baseball and I wanted this game more than anything,” said Marble, who struck out three and walked three.

Grant took command in the first inning, scoring three runs off Eduardo Baeza (10-1). Brian Hauser singled in two runs and Marble had a one-run single.

After Poly scored a run in the third, Grant answered in its half of the inning on a run-scoring single by Marble and a throwing error that led to two runs.

Penta hit a towering home run to center field in the sixth off reliever Joe Hampel.
