The Soroptimists of Brea and La Habra honored Councilwoman Lynn Daucher as “woman of distinction” on Thursday for her political journey from PTA volunteer to Republican nominee for the 72nd Assembly District.

Cathy Campanelli, a Soroptimist, gave Daucher an alarm clock “so you’ll know when it’s time to go to Sacramento.”

Vote counts from the March primary suggest Daucher is heavily favored to beat her Democratic challenger, Gangadharappa Nanjundappa, a sociology professor at Cal State Fullerton.

Three other women were honored with “women helping women” awards: Esther Cramer, the author of historical books on La Habra and Brea; Jeannie Hankins, chief executive of a local manufacturing company; and Jan Zylla, a member of Active Christians Today, a charity group.
