A 57-year-old Agoura woman was killed instantly Saturday after her car plunged 35 feet off the Ventura Freeway onto Rancho Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

The victim’s identity was withheld pending notification of her family, said Mitch Breese, a deputy county coroner.

The accident occurred about 1:15 p.m. near the Moorpark Freeway, authorities said.

The woman was traveling north on the Ventura Freeway when her dark-green Honda Accord slammed into a freeway wall, then careened off the road, authorities said.

“It went right over the top of my head,” said Roger Shepherd, 48, who was sitting underneath the freeway.

“It missed me by a couple of feet,” he said. “It came down on top of the street upside down.”

Other witnesses said they saw the woman’s car weaving before the crash.

Officers closed the northbound Rancho Road offramp, slowing traffic to a crawl.
