Oxnard Tourism Office Announces Awards

* The Oxnard Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the winners of its annual awards program, which honors individuals for their contributions to the area’s tourism industry.

Tourism Merit Award--Bill Faulkner of Channel Islands National Park for his service to the park and development of educational programs.

Education Award--Frank Ursitti of Channel Islands Marine Floating Lab for his contributions to schoolchildren and visiting groups.

Business Award--Dennis Costa and Thom Moore for their Fisherman’s Wharf promotional efforts and development of successful business ventures.

Volunteer Honored for Computer Work

* Robert Gorman of Ventura, a volunteer with Easter Seals Tri-Counties, was awarded the JCPenney Golden Rule Award for outstanding community service. Gorman was recognized during a recent ceremony in Oxnard. He received the award, established in 1902, in part for building computers from donated parts for use by Easter Seals Tri-Counties.
