The Volunteer Center Assistance League of Southern California needs volunteers to help with:

* A folk music and arts festival May 21 in Calabasas.

* Office work at the Fair Housing Council of the San Fernando Valley office in Panorama City.

* Visiting homes of the poor for the nonprofit group MEND to determine needs and coordinate the distribution of used furniture.

* Counseling at the Family Stress Center in North Hills. Participants need psychology backgrounds.

* Teaching adults to read at the Phoenix House, a residential drug rehabilitation center in Venice.

Burbank’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program is seeking participants 55 and older for a variety of duties at the North Hollywood Theater and Arts Festival from noon to 8 p.m. June 24 and 25. An information assistant is needed at the Universal City-North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

The retired senior program also needs five volunteers to help children read and file books from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays at Washington Elementary School in Burbank.

The Boys & Girls Club of Burbank needs coaches and referees for youth soccer leagues. Games are 4 to 5 p.m. weekdays.

The Missing Children Investigation Center needs volunteers to find missing, abducted and runaway kids.

The environmental group TreePeople needs participants to perform a variety of services, including community outreach.
