The Need for Schools
Every day there is an article in The Times about high school overcrowding and the need to build new schools. And every day there are more excuses, studies and consultants hired to look into this problem.
How creative has this group been? The California Air National Guard vacated its facilities next to the Van Nuys Airport years ago. I recently drove by there and was shocked to find old, ugly boarded-up buildings on a huge piece of land. Apparently there are “studies” still going on about the use of this land; need more be said?
Here is a large, contiguous piece of land, with no neighbor problems--on a wide street. This is already owned by the government and can be transferred easily. Plus, it could be a terrific use for the community.
Sometimes the easiest solution is right in front of us.
