A split vote on extending Supt. Patricia Clark White’s contract reflects ongoing tensions between trustees of the school district, board members said. While the board unanimously followed White’s recommendation Tuesday to extend contracts for two of the district’s three deputy superintendents, Trustees Margie Wakeham and Michael B. Regele rejected a one-year extension of White’s. But with three board members favoring the motion, White’s contract will run until 2004. Proposed changes to the district’s administrative structure, particularly the hiring of a chief financial officer, are mostly responsible for the rift.
