Titans Walk Their Way to 21-5 Victory Over Pacific

Cal State Fullerton took advantage of 10 walks and three hit batters Sunday in a 21-5 rout of Pacific in Stockton.

The Titans (34-17, 20-7), who swept the three-game series and lead second-place Nevada by two games in the Big West Conference, had 14 hits.

Fullerton took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Pacific made it 4-3 with two runs in the third and one in the fifth. The Titans then scored five runs in the sixth and 17 runs over the final four innings.

David Bacani had three hits, including two doubles, scored four runs and had five RBIs to lead the Titans, who also got three RBIs each from Robert Guzman, Jeff Gates and Chris Stringfellow. Stringfellow scored four runs, walking once and getting hit by pitches three times. Jon Smith (9-2) went five innings for the win.

In another Big West game:

Nevada 14, Long Beach State 0--Darrell Rasner (13-2) pitched a four-hitter for Nevada (34-17, 18-9). Chris Wright had two hits for Long Beach State, which fell to 29-24, and 16-11 in the Big West.
