General Automation Inc., an Irvine firm restructured into an electronic commerce operation, said Monday that it has tentatively agreed to sell its database business for $6.5 million.

The company said in a press release that the sale to Pick Systems, also in Irvine, should be complete by mid-June.

The move is a step by General Automation in its strategy to provide its customers with a migration path to the Internet.
