Attack by Pit Bulls

* Re “2 Boys Hospitalized After Mauling by Pit Bulls,” May 10.

Tragically, once again we read of two children hurt and dogs punished by death in a situation that could so easily have been avoided.

The report did not state whether the dogs were neutered, how long they were confined without food or exercise, if the female from whom they were said to have been bred was in season--all possible contributing factors to their entry into the house and the subsequent attacks.

Time and again it becomes obvious that one simple law is necessary: that unsterilized dogs may be kept only by responsible, licensed breeders.

Meanwhile, one can only hope that [dog owner Terrell] Williams remains, as he describes it, “dogged out.” Permanently!
