A memorial ceremony honoring U.S. submariners and submarines lost during naval service will take place at the Naval Weapons Station at 10 a.m. Saturday, Armed Forces Day.

The dedication of a Submarine Centennial Walkway containing 70 memorial bricks and two plaques in concrete will be held outside the north gate on Seal Beach Boulevard and is open to the public.

The bricks commemorate the 100th anniversary of U.S. submarine service. The bricks are engraved with the names of naval pioneers and heroes. The plaques are dedicated to the crews of the Thresher and the Scorpion, both of which sank on noncombat missions in the 1960s.
