Adam Saalinger hasn’t attended teacher Debbie Jantz’s fourth-grade class for months, but the other children haven’t forgotten him.
Adam was forced to drop out of Lake Forest Elementary School after he was diagnosed with cancer in December, just before his 10th birthday.
But six months later, his classmates still write to him almost weekly, wishing him well and keeping him up on the latest fourth-grade news.
Adam’s fight against the disease also inspired a group of parents at the school, who will hold a dinner Friday night to raise funds for the Saalinger family.
