Lenny Kravitz has done a guest appearance playing guitar on Busta Rhymes’ upcoming fourth album, “Anarchy,” due June 20. That release is just four days after the premiere of “Shaft,” in which Rhymes has a featured role. Rhymes is also filming a support role in “Finding Forrester,” which stars Sean Connery. . . .

Mellow Man Ace, whose 1989 song “Mentirosa” was one of the first big Latin-oriented rap hits, has made a comeback album with help from his brother, Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog, and Cypress’ B-Real and DJ Muggs. The album, “From the Darkness Into the Light,” is due in mid-September. . . .

Mark “Stew” Stewart, frontman of L.A. pop-rock band the Negro Problem, is working on his first solo album for New York independent label the Telegraph Company. It’s due Sept. 12. . . .

Fastball is wrapping up work on a third album in Los Angeles with producer Julian Raymond, who recorded the band’s last one as well. Billy Preston is a guest on keyboards, and Wallflower Michael Ward also contributed some slide guitar. . . .

L.A. ska-punks Voodoo Glow Skulls’ next album, to be titled “Symbolic,” features guest guitar work from the Reverend Horton Heat on the song “El Mas Chingon.” It’s due Aug. 22. . . .

Electronica keyboard whiz BT, whose “Movement in Still Life” album is due June 6 from Nettwerk Records, just conducted a 60-piece orchestra recording of his score for the film “Under Suspicion,” starring Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman. Plans for a CD release of that music are to be determined. . . .

Todd Rundgren has signed with Danny Goldberg’s Artemis Records, with the album “One Long Year” due June 20 and the relaunch of Rundgren’s pioneering Internet music and video domain Patronet.com to be done through Goldberg’s new Artistent.com Web venture. On the topic of Internet matters, Rundgren’s next single is titled “I Hate My Frickin’ ISP.”
