NEWPORT BEACH
The City Council tonight will consider a proposal to raise parking meter rates.
The city could increase fees in the Balboa Village area from 25 cents to 50 cents an hour.
Meters in Cannery Village and the Lido area near City Hall would increase to 50 cents an hour. On Balboa Boulevard, Palm Street and Bay Avenue in Balboa Village, the on-street meters would be $1 an hour.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd.
