Wireless Firm Advanced Sets Up Marketing Unit

Advanced Communications Technologies Inc., an Irvine wireless communications company, said Wednesday that it has set up a new subsidiary to market wireless network services and applications developed at an Australian research and development facility.

Advanced Communications said in a press release that it will own 70% of the new unit, called Advanced Network Technologies (USA) Inc. and based in Irvine.

The parent company is working with an Australian affiliate on a cellular wireless base station capable of processing multiple technology standards simultaneously within the same network.

The company owns 20% of the Melbourne affiliate, Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd., which recently received an Australian government research grant of $12 million (in Australian currency, equivalent to more than $6 million in U.S. dollars).
